What is it?

The following procedure will install an FTP server inside your MyBook with zero Linux skills required.

Requirements

Western Digital MyBook World Edition I or II "blue lights", any size, already configured for network access is required.

[For non-immaculated MyBooks]
TCP port 81 must be unused (as MyBook default), so if you have hacked it via ssh (manually installing something), please free that port. Of course, you have to uninstall any other FTPD you may have istalled (manually).

Features

This FTPD installation:

  allows you to easily add users' informations (username, password and share);
  makes sure that only registered users are able to access a specific folder of your choosing and not be able to browse outside of it, but can browse other folders within that folder;
  makes sure that FTP users are able to upload and download files without restrictions in their folder.
